Question: How much will we be required to pay a live out nanny?
Answer: The majority of our full and part time nannies earn between $11-$16/hr. Most full time nanny schedules range from 40-55 hours per week. Part time nannies will usually want to work with a 4 hour minimum shift.

Question: Are we responsible for paying taxes?
Answer: If your nanny’s annual pay exceeds $1600 (2008) in a given year, they are considered a household employee. As an employer, you are obligated to paying ½ social security and Medicare and unemployment.

Question: What happens if my nanny leaves after the placement is completed?
Answer: Colorado Nanny, Inc. will provide a free replacement during the nanny's first three months of employment. Any replacements needed up through the nanny's eighth month of employment will be provided at a discounted price of $500.00.

Question: How do we go about officially hiring our nanny?
Answer: Develop a written offer letter/job description (using our sample) which outlines all details regarding employment. Consider a trial period review to discuss the mutual satisfaction between the nanny and your family.

Question: What duties and responsibilities can we expect from our nanny?
Answer: A professional nanny’s first responsibility is the safety and care of your children. It is also expected that your nanny will be responsible if you desire for doing child related cleaning. This would include changing linens, laundry, tidying toys after play and keeping the kitchen clean after meal preparation. Many nannies are also willing to provide light housekeeping if time allows. This could refer to vacuuming, dusting, bed making etc.

Question: How long does it take to find a nanny?”
Answer: The process can take from 2-8 weeks. The average is 3-4 weeks. You want to allow enough time to hire the right person. When most people meet their perfectly matched nanny, they sense it almost instantly.

Question: Do you have any advice in helping us hire the best person?
Answer: Respond quickly by scheduling an interview with any candidate who has been presented by our agency. Clearly identify and communicate your expectations about your position during your meeting. If you meet someone who feels right in every way, don't hesitate to move forward and make an offer. Excellent candidates often come on and off the market quickly.
